Xi meets Lao president
BEIJING, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) — Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chinese president, met with Thongloun Sisoulith, general secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee and Lao president, in Beijing on Thursday.
Thongloun is in China for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit 2025, commemorations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, and a working visit.
Xi stressed that given the complex and profound changes in the international and regional landscape, the two sides need to view and approach China-Laos relations from a long-term and strategic perspective, and firmly support each other on issues concerning their respective core interests and major concerns.
China is ready to deepen exchanges with Laos on experience in party and state governance, Xi said.
The two sides need to focus on the operation of the China-Laos Railway and development along the route to upgrade key projects, Xi said, adding that they should also deepen cooperation in defense, law enforcement and security, and other fields.
Thongloun said that the Laos-China relationship is now at its best in history, and Laos is ready to continue working with China to implement the new five-year action plan on building a Laos-China community with a shared future.
Laos fully supports the Global Governance Initiative proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping and stands ready to strengthen coordination and cooperation with China on the international stage, Thongloun said. ■

Zones industrielles : peu endettée, la MAGZI dégage un bénéfice net de 175 millions de FCFA en 2025
(Investir au Cameroun) – La Mission d’aménagement et de gestion des zones industrielles (MAGZI) a arrêté les états financiers de l’exercice clos au 31 décembre 2025. Les comptes examinés font état d’un total bilan de 35,5 milliards de FCFA et de capitaux propres de 22,8 milliards de FCFA, soit un taux de couverture du bilan par les fonds propres d’environ 64% — un niveau qui traduit une structure financière peu endettée.
Le chiffre d’affaires de l’exercice s’établit à 3 milliards de FCFA, pour un résultat net bénéficiaire de 175 millions de FCFA. Rapporté au chiffre d’affaires, ce bénéfice net représente une marge nette d’environ 5,7% — un niveau de rentabilité modeste, mais qui confirme la capacité de l’entreprise publique à dégager un résultat positif malgré un contexte financier tendu.
La MAGZI est une entreprise publique chargée de l’aménagement et de la gestion des zones industrielles sur l’ensemble du territoire national. Créée en mars 1971 a un capital de 1,5 milliard de FCFA. Placée sous la tutelle technique du ministère des Mines, de l’Industrie et du Développement technologique, elle a pour mission de faciliter l’accueil et l’installation des opérateurs industriels, en mettant à leur disposition des terrains aménagés dans les principaux pôles économiques du pays.
La MAGZI gère actuellement onze zones industrielles, réparties notamment à Douala (Bassa et Bonabéri), Yaoundé-Sud, Garoua, Ngaoundéré, Bafoussam, Bamenda-Nkwen, Ombé et Mandjou, pour un total de plus de 1 290 hectares aménagés sur un patrimoine foncier global de 2 277 hectares.
