(SCO Tianjin Summit) China-SCO Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Area witnesses spike in trade growth
QINGDAO, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) — Thanks to a cluster of foreign trade industries and fast cross-border logistics channels, the China-SCO Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Area (SCODA) in Qingdao has witnessed a spike in trade growth.
According to statistics from the customs, the demonstration area’s trade value with other SCO member countries during this year’s first seven months reached 53.26 billion yuan (about 7.47 billion U.S. dollars), an year-on-year increase of 26.1 percent. Exports surged 21.5 percent to 26.88 billion yuan (about 3.77 billion U.S. dollars), with household appliances and textile and garment products accounting for a relatively large proportion. Imports reached 26.38 billion yuan (about 3.7 billion U.S. dollars), rising by 31.0 percent. The imports of seafood from the Far East and those of the dried fruits and dairy products from Central Asia saw significant growth.
