STORYLINE:

The 3rd edition of the International Economic Days of Councils (JEICOM), organized at the Yaounde Conference Center by the United Councils and Cities of Cameroon, opened on Monday in Yaounde, the Cameroonian capital.

Cameroonian Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute presided over the opening ceremony.

Scheduled to run from June 2 to 4, the event aims to promote local development opportunities, the financing of communal projects and link-up with the national development strategy.

« These machines will be of great use to us, firstly to maintain the entire road network scattered throughout the Kobdombo commune, and to open up the production basins, so that our populations can sell their produce in neighboring towns and even neighboring countries. »

SOUNDBITE 2 (Chinese): LIU RUNAN, General director of Longstar equipement

« We chose these devices because the event organized today primarily focuses on selecting more equipment for the upcoming urbanization process. We are showcasing construction machinery, aiming to present high-quality Chinese products and equipment to the government, with the hope of contributing to the urbanization process in Cameroon. »
